Assign students to their cooperative groups and questions
Activity:
Teacher reviews website with students
Students write answers to their assigned question on the Internet inquiry sheet

Students will observe the elements of nonfiction during research
Introduce using table of contents, graphics and captions to find information
Materials:
Various trade books about Honeybees
Research Inquiry Worksheet
Procedure:
Teacher models how to use the table of contents, graphics and captions to find information.
Activity:
Students gather in their cooperative groups with their Research Inquiry Worksheet
Using trade books they research answers to their respective questions using table of contents, graphics and captions.
Add new words to word wall

Students create a glossary
Materials:
Various trade books
Overhead projector
Procedure:
Use trade books about Honeybees to model table of contents and glossary
Activity:
Students create a table of contents for their topics
Each group chooses three to five words for the glossary
Students obtain definitions for the glossary

Connect LCD projector to laptop
Open Power Point Template
Model how to type in template
Activity:
Type in template
Save and name template

Teachers and students will learn how to import a graphic into Power Point
Teachers will learn how to create a folder on the desktop
Materials:
Computer
Power Point Template
LCD Projector
Internet connectivity
Procedure:
Connect LCD Projector to laptop
Model how to create and name folder
Model how to download graphic
Create and name a folder on desktop
Go to Google and make sure sure you check the IMAGES tab
Type in honeybee anatomy or honeybee
Choose and Click on one of the images
Save the image to the folder
Click BACK to get back to your Google page
Repeat these steps until you have enough pictures to continue
Model how to import and resize graphic into Power Point

Other Activities
The class can create a "honeycomb" of bee facts at an activity suggestion center. Set out several books about bees, and provide paper pieces cut into the shape of a honeycomb cell. Students can visit the center and read about bees. When they find a new bee fact, they can write it on a piece of the hexagonal paper and add it to a growing honeycomb bulletin board.
